Suryakumar Yadav added 32 off 29 before falling to Usman Tariq. Shivam Dube then provided the late fireworks — 27 off 17 at a strike rate of 158 — while Rinku Singh finished unbeaten on 11. India's total of 175 for 7 looked very competitive on this pitch.
For Pakistan, Saim Ayub was the standout bowler — 3 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs. A brilliant performance with the ball. But it was not enough to restrict India to a chaseable target.
Pakistan Innings — Complete Collapse
Pakistan needed 176 to win. What followed was one of the most disappointing batting performances from a Pakistan team in recent memory.
Jasprit Bumrah was simply unplayable. He removed Saim Ayub for 6 and Salman Agha for 4 in the powerplay — leaving Pakistan reeling at 38 for 4 after 6 overs. Hardik Pandya got rid of the dangerous Sahibzada Farhan for a duck off the very first ball of the innings — a massive early blow.
Babar Azam — Pakistan's greatest batter — could only manage 5 runs before being bowled by Axar Patel. Pakistan were 73 for 5 and the match was effectively over.
Usman Khan was the only Pakistan batter who showed real fight — a brilliant 44 off 34 balls including 6 fours. He kept Pakistan's hopes alive briefly, but when he was stumped off Axar Patel the lower order crumbled quickly.
Varun Chakravarthy took 2 wickets for 17 runs. Kuldeep Yadav was miserly — just 14 runs from 3 overs. And Bumrah finished with 2 for 17 from 4 overs — his economy rate of 4.25 on a day when runs were at a premium was absolutely magnificent.
Pakistan were bowled out for 114 in 18 overs. 61 runs short of their target.
Key Moments
The match was decided in the powerplay. Bumrah's early wickets completely derailed Pakistan's chase. When Babar Azam fell cheaply to Axar Patel in the middle overs — Pakistan's last hope was gone.
India's bowling attack was absolutely relentless. Pace from Bumrah and Pandya. Spin from Axar, Varun, and Kuldeep. Pakistan had no answers. Their three reviews all failed. Their partnerships never got going. And their lower order had nothing to chase.
India — Pros and Cons
India's batting depth was on full display. Kishan's aggression at the top, Dube and Rinku's late hitting — the total of 175 was built on brilliant individual performances. The bowling was even better — a perfect combination of pace and spin that kept Pakistan to just 6.33 runs per over throughout their innings. Fielding was sharp — catches taken, the run out executed under pressure.
The only concern for India is the early wickets — Abhishek Sharma and Hardik Pandya both went for ducks with the bat. And the middle overs slowed down significantly. These are things to improve heading into the Super Eights.
Pakistan — Pros and Cons
Saim Ayub was genuinely impressive — 3 wickets for 25 with the ball AND contributing with the bat. Usman Khan showed real fight with 44 in a hopeless situation. Shaheen Afridi's 23 not out at the end at least saved some pride.
But the concerns are massive. The top order was completely exposed — Babar, Salman, and Sahibzada Farhan all failed on a big occasion. No partnership of 50 or more was built. The spinners — Abrar Ahmed and Shadab Khan — went for too many runs. And the powerplay collapse of 38 for 4 is simply unacceptable at this level.
Pakistan must rebuild quickly. Their tournament is not over — but they need a serious response in their remaining group matches.
Final Word
India were simply better in every department tonight. Batting. Bowling. Fielding. Tactics. India controlled this match from the moment Bumrah bowled his first delivery.
India are through to the Super Eights. They are the team to beat at T20 World Cup 2026.
Pakistan have a lot of soul-searching to do. But knowing Pakistan — they will come back fighting.
