The T20 World Cup 2026 group stage is delivering drama, upsets, and unforgettable moments — and we are still not even halfway through! With the Super Eights just around the corner, the race for qualification is heating up across all four groups.

Here at The Yorker Crew, we have broken down the complete standings, analyzed every group, and given you our Super Eights predictions. Let's dive in.

How Does the T20 World Cup 2026 Work?

Twenty teams are divided into four groups of five teams each. The top two teams from each group advance to the Super Eights, which begin on February 21st. From there, the top teams advance to the semifinals and ultimately the final on March 8th.

Every group stage match matters. One loss can end your World Cup. And as we have already seen — no team is safe.

Group A: India and Pakistan Dominate

India lead Group A with four points from two matches. The defending champions have been dominant on home soil, exactly as expected. Suryakumar Yadav's team is playing with confidence and the home crowd is giving them an incredible boost. India look like the team to beat — not just in Group A, but in the entire tournament.

Pakistan sit second in Group A, also on four points but with a slightly inferior net run rate to India. The Green Shirts have registered back-to-back wins in the group stage and are building serious momentum heading into their February 15th clash against India in Colombo. Whoever wins that match almost certainly tops Group A.

One of the biggest surprises in Group A has been the USA. They pulled off a stunning 93-run win over Netherlands — Saiteja Mukkamalla scoring 79 runs and Harmeet Singh taking four wickets as the USA posted 196 for 6 and bowled Netherlands out for just 103. The USA are keeping their Super Eights hopes alive and should not be underestimated.

Netherlands are fourth after suffering that heavy defeat, while Namibia at the bottom look effectively out of the tournament.

Group B: Zimbabwe Shock the World

Group B has produced the moment of the tournament so far — and possibly one of the greatest upsets in T20 World Cup history.

Australia started strongly with a dominant 67-run win over Ireland. Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa both took four wickets each as Australia looked every bit the powerhouse they are on paper.

But then came Zimbabwe.

In a result that left the entire cricketing world stunned, Zimbabwe beat Australia by 23 runs. Brian Bennett scored an unbeaten 64 as Zimbabwe posted 169 for 2 — and then their disciplined bowling attack restricted Australia to just 146. Australia — one of the pre-tournament favorites — are now in serious danger of not making the Super Eights.

Zimbabwe have announced themselves as genuine contenders and this result will go down in T20 World Cup history. This is exactly why we love cricket — on any given day, any team can beat any team.

Super Eights Prediction from Group B: Zimbabwe ✅ — Second spot still wide open ⚠️

Group C: West Indies Back in Business

Group C has West Indies firmly in the driving seat, and they are looking every bit as dangerous as their two World Cup titles suggest.

West Indies beat England by 30 runs at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Sherfane Rutherford's blazing 76 not out powered West Indies to 196 for 6, and then their spin trio of Gudakesh Motie, Roston Chase, and Akeal Hosein were magnificent in the middle overs to bowl England out for 166.

Two-time champions West Indies are looking dangerous. Their power hitting is world class and their spinners can bamboozle any batting lineup.

England are third in Group C — sitting below Scotland — which is a remarkable and concerning situation for the 2022 World Cup champions. They need to recover quickly to avoid an embarrassing early exit.

Scotland continue to impress and deserve massive credit for competing at this level.

Super Eights Prediction from Group C: West Indies ✅ England ✅ (if they recover)

Group D: South Africa Survive Double Super Over Thriller

Group D has been the most competitive and entertaining group of the tournament so far.

South Africa have been involved in the match of the World Cup against Afghanistan — a game that went to not one, but TWO Super Overs before South Africa finally won. Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton gave South Africa an incredible platform before Rashid Khan and Afghanistan's bowlers fought back brilliantly. Absolutely unbelievable cricket.

New Zealand have Tim Seifert in sensational form — currently the tournament's top run scorer with 154 runs in just 2 innings. The Black Caps are quietly building towards a deep run in this tournament.

Afghanistan remain dangerous. Rashid Khan's performance in that Super Over thriller showed exactly what this team is capable of — and on turning pitches, they can beat anyone.
