IPL 2026 has delivered everything in the last 72 hours — a 1-run thriller at Arun Jaitley Stadium, a 15-year-old hitting Jasprit Bumrah for six on the very first ball faced, a rain washout at Eden Gardens, and a points table that is wide open with 14 matches played.
April 9, 2026 — here is the complete IPL 2026 roundup you need.
๐ฑ GT Beat DC by 1 Run — The Most Dramatic Finish of IPL 2026 So Far
April 8 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Gujarat Titans — winless in two games, desperate for their first points — posted 210 for 5. Captain Shubman Gill led the way with 70, returning to the side after missing the opening matches. It looked like enough — but DC made it one of the greatest last-over finishes in recent IPL memory.
KL Rahul played one of the innings of IPL 2026 so far — a magnificent 92 off 52 balls, anchoring DC's chase with extraordinary skill and keeping his side alive when wickets fell around him. Rahul fell to Mohammed Siraj in the 18th over with DC still needing 30 off 12 — but David Miller, facing his former side, refused to give up.
With 2 runs needed off the final 2 balls — Miller played out a dot, then missed the last delivery from Prasidh Krishna. A direct hit from Jos Buttler found Kuldeep Yadav short of his crease trying to steal the bye. DC fell 1 run short. Rashid Khan had been the key with the ball — 3 for 17 in 4 clinical overs — but it was that final ball chaos that sealed it for GT.
For DC, it was heartbreaking. KL Rahul's 92 was exceptional — and went completely unrewarded. Miller's 41 off 20 balls kept DC alive, but the former Gujarat captain could not quite do it against his old team in the cruelest of finishes.
| DC vs GT — Quick Scorecard | |
|---|---|
| ๐ต GT (batting first) | 210/5 (20 ov) — Gill 70, Rashid 3/17 |
| ๐ต DC (chasing) | 209/6 (20 ov) — KL Rahul 92, Miller 41* |
| Result | GT won by 1 run ๐ฑ |

⚡ Vaibhav Suryavanshi Hits Bumrah for Six — RR Beat MI by 27 Runs
If the GT-DC thriller was dramatic, the RR vs MI encounter in Guwahati on April 7 was pure electricity — courtesy of a 15-year-old who has no fear of anyone.
The match was rain-curtailed to 11 overs per side. Mumbai Indians won the toss and put RR in. What followed was one of the most devastating powerplay batting displays in IPL 2026. Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal combined for 59 runs in the 3.2 overs of powerplay alone. The moment the entire cricket world had been waiting for came in the 5th over — Suryavanshi faced Jasprit Bumrah for the first time, and hit him for a six off the very first ball. Even Bumrah had to smile.
Suryavanshi finished with 39 off 14 balls before being caught by Tilak Varma off Shardul Thakur. But by then, RR had taken control completely. Jaiswal was unstoppable — finishing unbeaten on 77 off 32 balls, including 10 fours and 4 sixes. With so many IPL heavyweights nursing injuries this season, Suryavanshi and Jaiswal are proving to be the freshest, most exciting batting pair in the tournament.
MI chased 150 in 11 overs and never looked like making it. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav both fell cheaply, leaving the chase in tatters at 20 for 2. Even Bumrah's 3-over spell could not save MI — they were bowled out for 123, giving RR a 27-run win. RR now have 3 wins from 3 — sole leaders at the top of the IPL 2026 table.
| RR vs MI — Quick Scorecard (11 overs) | |
|---|---|
| ๐ต RR | 150/3 (11 ov) — Jaiswal 77*, Suryavanshi 39 |
| ๐ต MI | 123/9 (11 ov) — Rohit 0, SKY 4 |
| Result | RR won by 27 runs |
| ⭐ POTM | Yashasvi Jaiswal — 77* off 32 balls |
๐ง️ KKR vs PBKS Abandoned — Eden Gardens Rain Drama
The much-anticipated April 6 clash at Eden Gardens between KKR and Punjab Kings never really happened. KKR — desperate for their first win after two losses — won the toss and elected to bat. They reached 25 for 2 in just 3.4 overs before heavy rain arrived and never left. The match was eventually abandoned — 1 point each for both teams.
For KKR, it was another frustrating night. They remain without a win. For PBKS, the point maintained their unbeaten run at the top of the table. The two sides will meet again later in the tournament — and that rematch promises to be a blockbuster.

๐ Aaj Ka Match — KKR vs LSG, April 9
Venue: Eden Gardens, Kolkata | Toss: 7:00 PM IST | Match: 7:30 PM IST
KKR simply cannot afford another dropped point. Two losses and one rain abandonment — they are 8th in the table with just 1 point from 3 games. Their injury crisis — Harshit Rana out all season, Akash Deep also gone — has left the bowling paper thin. Navdeep Saini has been brought in as replacement but the attack still lacks penetration.
LSG arrive in decent form — Rishabh Pant's side won against SRH on April 5 and have quality throughout. Mohammed Shami was excellent in that game. Cameron Green — the most expensive overseas player in IPL history at ₹25.20 crore — has looked tentative and is yet to find his rhythm for KKR, as former Australia opener Aaron Finch noted in commentary.
Our prediction: LSG by 20 runs — KKR's thin bowling will struggle against a dangerous LSG batting lineup at Eden Gardens under lights tonight.
