Sanju Samson finally arrived at his new home — and he did it in style. A magnificent 115* off 56 balls, his first IPL hundred for CSK, lit up Chepauk on Saturday night and ended Chennai's miserable winless start to IPL 2026. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings stayed unbeaten with a dominant chase against SRH, and tonight the Wankhede hosts the season's most anticipated remaining first-phase clash — MI vs RCB.
April 12, 2026 — here is your complete IPL 2026 roundup.
๐ Sanju Samson 115* — CSK Finally Win! Beat DC by 23 Runs
Three matches. Zero wins. Zero points. The Chepauk crowd, usually the most loyal in cricket, had started to grow restless. CSK were bottom of the table alongside SRH, and the absence of MS Dhoni — out with his calf strain — had removed the beating heart from the dressing room. Something had to give on Saturday night. And it did — in a spectacular fashion.
DC won the toss and elected to field. What followed was one of the great individual IPL innings of the season so far. Sanju Samson — who had scored just 22 runs in his first three CSK matches — walked out and batted like a man on a mission. His first 19 balls produced 45 runs. He shared a 113-run second-wicket stand with Ayush Mhatre (59 off 36 balls) that completely took DC apart in the powerplay and middle overs. By the time Samson was finished, he had made 115* off 56 balls — his fourth IPL hundred, his first for CSK, and the first century of IPL 2026. CSK posted 212 for 2.
DC's reply started explosively — KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka raced to 61 in the first 5 overs. But CSK's bowlers responded ruthlessly. Khaleel Ahmed cramped Rahul. Nissanka followed. DC crashed from 66 for 0 to 76 for 4 in the space of a few overs — and the game was decided in that period. Jamie Overton was exceptional — 4 for 18 in 4 overs, hitting hard lengths and breaking partnerships every time DC looked to rebuild. Tristan Stubbs fought hard with 60 off 38 balls, but DC were bowled out for 189. CSK won by 23 runs — their first win of IPL 2026.
In the dressing room, Samson said: "Coming to another home" — three words that summed up exactly what his Chepauk night meant. The Chepauk faithful gave him the reception he deserved.

๐ PBKS Beat SRH by 6 Wickets — Shreyas Iyer 68, Shashank All-Round
The afternoon match at Mullanpur was another high-scoring IPL 2026 thriller. SRH under Ishan Kishan — still searching for their first win — came out batting aggressively and posted 219 for 6. Abhishek Sharma set the tone at the top with an explosive knock, and SRH looked to be on track for an imposing total. At one stage they threatened 250 before Shashank Singh's bowling — economical and clever — reined them in through the middle overs.
PBKS chased 220 with 7 balls to spare — a statement performance. Shreyas Iyer anchored the chase brilliantly with 68 off measured balls, ensuring PBKS never lost momentum even as wickets fell around him. Abhishek Sharma actually created history during the match — becoming the first player ever to achieve a specific statistical feat in IPL history with his batting performance, underlining just how dangerous SRH's opening pair remains even in defeat.
PBKS are now unbeaten in all completed matches — 3 wins from 3 played matches, 7 points including the rain abandonment against KKR. They are the most consistent team in IPL 2026 so far alongside RR.

๐ด TONIGHT — MI vs RCB, Wankhede Stadium, 7:30 PM IST
The most anticipated remaining first-phase fixture arrives tonight — Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium. Two of cricket's biggest brands, two of IPL's most iconic rivalries, at one of cricket's most electric venues.
Mumbai Indians (1W, 2L) are in a difficult spot — they have the squad to compete but results have not gone their way. Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya — the batting is not the problem. But their bowling, without a genuine pace spearhead after Mitchell Starc's absence, has been leaking runs in the death overs. Jasprit Bumrah remains their trump card — but even Bumrah was hit for six by 15-year-old Suryavanshi last week.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (2W, 1L) arrive with confidence despite the RR loss. Tim David's 106m six against CSK showed the destructive power in this RCB batting lineup. Virat Kohli has been in excellent touch. Josh Hazlewood — who has been getting closer to match fitness — could make his IPL 2026 debut tonight, which would be a huge boost to RCB's pace attack.
Wankhede traditionally offers pace and bounce — and with both teams carrying bowling concerns, another 200+ game is likely. The toss will be crucial — teams batting second have won more consistently at Wankhede in recent IPL seasons.
Our prediction: RCB by 15 runs — Kohli finds form at his favourite away ground, and Hazlewood's potential debut adds the firepower RCB have been missing.
